The Best Thing I Ever Taught: Sub Plans [S5 E126]

Listen to the full episode below:

What teacher doesn’t love a good hack? We’ve all got more than enough on our plates, so anytime we can simplify a task to save us time, while still being effective in our teaching, it’s a win.

Today’s hack is brought to you by part four of our “The Best Thing I Ever Taught Series” - sub plans!

We’ve all been there. Whether it’s an unexpected sick day, vacation, or maternity leave, it all comes with writing those pesky sub plans. Most days it feels easier to just go in and teach rather than put all the time and effort into thorough sub plans (even when you are so sick you can barely get out of bed).

First of all, if you’re sick, please stay home. Even if you aren’t sick, you need to take your days! Brave New Teaching is here to help make this process so much easier and efficient for you. We’re sharing our 5-step approach to stress-free sub plans that you can use time and time again.

The best part of these plans are that they model good teaching. You’ll be able to take care of yourself while also leaving plans that are reasonable, yet have high expectations, and will keep moving students’ learning forward. You’ll be able to return to class without missing a beat!
