The 7 Stages of Grief When You Hear “Robot Teachers Are Coming” (Because WHAT?!) - BNT Team Meeting [S7 EP. 291]

Listen to the full episode below:

Okay but… are we really talking about robot teachers right now?! Because when I first saw that headline, I laughed. Like, fully assumed it was an early April Fool’s joke. And then I realized… oh. We’re being serious. So in this episode, I’m walking you through my very real 7 stages of grief after hearing that robots might be stepping into education, because wow, I had some feelings.

From laughing it off to spiraling a little to getting genuinely fired up, I take you through each stage and what it actually felt like in the moment. But more importantly, I talk about what comes after all of that. Because at the end of the day, no robot is stepping in to do the human side of this job - the conversations, the trust, the real-life moments our students bring to us every single day.

This episode is a reminder of what’s still in our control and what it looks like to keep showing up for our students in a world that feels a little chaotic right now.

topics discussed:

  • The emotional roller coaster of March and the anticipation of spring break

  • That viral news of humanoid robots supposedly set to invade classrooms, and the reactions from teachers and parents

  • Seven stages of teacher response to robot-teacher hype, from laughing it off to rage and (finally) action

  • The importance of human connection, emotional support, and showing up for students

  • Concrete tips for keeping your classroom environment strong, modeling resilience, and using every resource to avoid burnout
