Unpopular Opinions: Teacher Edition Part 2 [S4 E92]

Listen to the full episode below:

This episode is a highly sought after topic that we promised we would come back to after part one a few weeks ago. Drum roll please….

This is episode two of unpopular opinions, teacher edition!

We love producing a mix of niche content as well as teacher life, and we’re excited to share the latter today! If you haven’t listened to part one, head to episode 82 to catch up.

We polled our audience a few months ago and chose four unpopular opinions to share and unpack. The topics ranged from writing criteria to socializing and more (anyone else love eating lunch alone?!). Although we agree on most things related to teaching, there were some ideas that we had differing opinions.

One thing we agreed on was that although we do some things differently, we both prioritize what’s important both in the classroom and school community.

You won’t want to miss this episode because we get spicy as we share our thoughts that may go against the masses. As you likely have realized, we are those people that ask why something is done because at the end of the day it’s the purpose behind our teaching that will help our students grow.

We recognize that our students need foundational skills to thrive in society so although some of our opinions may be unpopular, they will undoubtedly prepare our students for success.

Topics Covered:

  • 4 unpopular opinions our teacher listeners have

  • Our thoughts on socializing and how it affects our energy

  • What is more important, word counts or page counts?

  • An honest discussion about the purpose of grades
