To Get Started with Essential Questions [S1 E31]

Everyone should be lucky enough to have a work-spouse. For me, this glorious time in my life came when I was teaching English 2 with the one and only, Kyle Etheridge: my work husband. Kyle began as my mentee, a new teacher out of Northern Illinois University, and after getting my pride knocked around a bit, I can truly say that Kyle has definitely taught me more than I was ever able to teach him. In today’s interview, Kyle recounts his journey through troubleshooting inquiry-driven curriculum design and teaching as well as an on the spot design of an essential question. We are totally honest about our struggles and successes in the classroom here and hope that we offer some insight that makes your journey that much more inspired.

Kyle is an outstanding teacher making his way through the early stages of his career. He’s a kind, compassionate, and selfless person who is always there with an extra pair of hands for the assist. I consider myself immeasurably lucky to know him and to continue to work on projects with him.

Kyle is a high school English teacher from the western suburbs of Chicago. Kyle is not terribly active on social media, but you can reach him through email at ketheridge@d94.org. You could also DM me, Amanda, and I’ll just give you his phone number :)
